GOD WITH US: 09 – 10 APRIL 2022
A positive outcome from Lockdown and the heaviness of Covid-19, was the birth of a Children’s Church camp! It was held at Breërivier Primary School grounds.
To ensure parents peace of mind and encouragement, there was a call for parents to join the camp with their own tents or to make use of the school’s facilities if no personal tents were owned.
It was a stunning success. We attracted 63 children and 28 adults.
A heart-to-heart talk by Johan Smit, school master and child of God, to parents about the significance of positive talk towards their children as well as the Biblical principle of blessing your child, was presented. In the meanwhile, Riana van Wyk, children’s Church Leader, practically explained the Armor of God to the children.
While the campfires were burning on the open field and parents socializing, the school hall were filled with enthusiastically children, worshipping our living God.
In the night, with children aging 3 – 14, we made groups and were given the task of reaching a location without being detected or captured. It was such a lot of fun and lots of bursting energy on that field, scattering about (I am sure everyone could have seen us running and trying to hide).
There was a second night march with the older children. I salute them! They were challenged and taken out of their comfort zone, but they have shown bravery. The purpose of the night marches was to teach the children that they are never alone. God is with us. We don’t have to be afraid.
The following day we practiced crossbow and arrow, pellet gun and slingshot.
